We all have one common goal:
we want to leave a positive legacy.
We are a group of friends, with different backgrounds and talents, who all feel the need to reinvent ourselves. We live in a time where dissatisfaction and frustration abound, and it seems to us that the time is right to take all our knowledge and expertise and to place it at the service of people who, like us, want to do something to break with all these negative sentiments and leave the planet a positive legacy.
Video: the origin of our name
Yeray Martínez Montesdeoca
Yeray is a forestry consultant and the person who came up with the original idea behind the project. He has been involved in forestry management for the last 12 years both in the Canaries and elsewhere in Spain. Over the last ten years he has been working on his own corporate project (www.geneaconsultores.com) which has allowed him to gather considerable experience in managing sustainable forestry projects, corporate responsibility and coaching. He is passionate about nature and how we are intimately connected to it.
Jesús de la Plaza
Jesús is a web designer and programmer with more than twelve years experience. As well as coming up with really useful suggestions from the start of the project, he is responsible for the graphic side of things, brand development, the web platform and so on. His reasons for coming on board were friendship, passion and a yearning for adventure. His catch phrase is “I don’t know” which always succeeds in making the other team members get their thinking caps on.
Lucía Rodríguez Corral
Lucía has been translating since 1999. She’s a really positive person, highly committed and creative, and she loves trying out new things which open doors to new knowledge and different experiences. Which may explain why she jumped at the chance to join this project when Yeray invited her to do so. She takes care of everything that has to do with communication, something that we consider is highly important if we are to achieve our objectives.
Jamie Micah Lawrence
Jamie is an international forestry consultant; he advises multinationals and civil society in corporate responsibility projects and sustainability strategies. He was one of the prime movers behind the FSC label in Spain whose objective is to promote environmentally-appropriate forestry management globally. Jamie is a reference point in the environmental consultancy sector for having conceptualized the “Net Positive” concept in woods, which helps companies achieve a positive impact on the world’s forests.
Káhina Santana Miranda
Káhina is a sociologist and her speciality is developing participative processes to try to collectively transform how we relate with each other and with our surroundings. Ever since she started working as a sociologist in 2009 she’s been involved in environmental projects which have benefited from her creativity and her capacity to listen, and from her ability to set up nature-related processes for people and groups. For her the starting point in all she does is people and their diversity and the complex social world we live in. What she is really passionate about are projects like Mirlo that are committed to bringing about change and do so with enthusiasm and by creating synergies and affinities with other people.
A professional journalist since 1972, Eduardo has set up communication projects for companies and institutions throughout Spain, Europe and Latin America. He’s the editor of the digital magazine Tendencias21 (www.tendencias21.net) which specializes in promoting knowledge. He will be our Mirlo expert as far as communication strategies are concerned, and he’ll be looking after our media relationships. His goal is to leave a positive legacy for our planet.
